Handmade cards by me: ETSY: journeywithspirit72

Hello All,

We get through these months so quickly. We have reached this magickal moment of writing to those who need some uplifting! I hope you will join me in writing beautiful love letters!

ED

“I am asking that letters be sent to my grandpa, Ed.  He spent the last 61 years married to his best friend and losing her was harder than words can express,” shares Ed’s granddaughter.

In mid-September, Ed turned 80. Right after his birthday, Grandma started declining rapidly. When Grandma was diagnosed with early onset dementia 8 years ago, Grandpa never left her side trying new doctors, experimental medications, and support groups. They have always been best friends and taken care of one another as well as family and friends. I even wrote a personal essay about their love story which got me accepted to college.

On October 5th, I knew I wanted to nominate Grandpa. I sat by my grandma’s bed and explained to her what More Love Letters is all about. I asked her if this was  something we should nominate Grandpa for because he will miss her so much when she is gone. All grandma could do was raise her eyebrows, but I know she could hear me and would love for everyone to support her Ed.

Cards have always meant a lot to my grandparents. They taught me that love should be shared with everyone which is exactly why I have been writing cards for MLL every month since 2017 when I learned about the organization. I have a stack of cards saved from my grandparents that started in my grandma’s cursive and as her dementia progressed shifted to my grandpa’s handwriting. I got a card in the mail the first of October wishing me and my husband a happy wedding anniversary. The card was even signed ‘Grandma and Grandpa.’ Through it all, they never missed an opportunity to celebrate others.

My 4th wedding anniversary was October 6th and this was also the morning my grandma passed away while holding my grandpa’s hand. Words of encouragement would mean so much to him right now. Ed is actively involved in the church that he and my grandma went to their entire married life as well as being in a bowling league and a golf league. However, while Grandma was her sickest, he kept saying, I don’t know what I am going to do without her. Sending him a card would mean so much to me, our family, and my grandma who is smiling down on him now.”

TALI

Tali’s mom celebrates her “wonderful, creative, intelligent, funny, and sensitive” daughter.

“Tali is 24 years old but has had a devastating breakdown and decline over the past four years. A few years back she graduated from college with a distinction in Performing Arts and Musical Theatre. She had good friends and was beginning to expand into creating a life for herself, but she suffered trauma and fell apart. She developed OCD and complex PTSD and even stopped eating for a while. She is now just beginning to try to do things she enjoys again and desperately wants connection and to feel competent and have a sense of purpose again.

She has so much to offer – a deep love of animals and a passion for social justice issues, a brilliantly creative mind for writing, art, cookery, and crafts, and a great love of literature and theatre. She’s a fiercely loyal and devoted friend and a delightful family member. She’s brave and determined but suffers from loneliness, isolation, exhaustion, frustration (with her PTSD symptoms), and sometimes depression. Most days she just can’t see an end to her suffering and needs to know she really deserves to be happy and have a life she loves.”

Please write and show Tali how loved she is.

MICHAEL

“Michael is suffering and needs support.” says his mother.

“He was injured at birth, and as a result, one of his arms is partially paralyzed and atrophied from the elbow to the hand. This never stopped him from doing anything in life – he joined cub scouts, led the school talent shows, he even joined a little league. He is brilliantly smart and excelled in school where he was beloved by many.

In junior high and high school that all changed. He went through the perfect storm of feeling self-conscious about his disability, not choosing the best friends, being bullied, not excelling academically, fighting with his father, breaking up his family through divorce, and moving out of his childhood home. He gave up on himself and escaped into video games. His friends went off to jobs and college and he stayed home and played games. He doesn’t believe that he is still the smart, capable, adaptable person he was throughout childhood.

He was an inspiration to others then and he can still be that today. He has no direction in life and no belief in himself. He needs the support of others besides his mother to let him know that no matter where we find ourselves we can always start again.”

Let’s write to Michael because, as his mother reminds us all, “there is always a way to find our path and be happy in life.”

CLAUDIA

Mothers are some of the strongest people we know. Claudia’s daughter shares her mother’s story who is going through a difficult time in her life.

“My mother recently divorced my father after 25 years together. He was mentally, physically, and verbally abusive, so in the end, this was the right choice. However, my father was the only person my mother has ever seriously dated. They met when she was 18, dated for three months, and then my mother got pregnant with me. Life kept moving – as it does – and before my mom knew it she was stuck in a relationship with an abusive narcissist, who also had an addiction and three daughters. The trauma that we all endured in that household has unfortunately now shaped who we each are as people and gave us a warped sense of self-worth.

Despite the pain that my mother had to go through, she managed to start a successful business without a college degree, raise three college-educated daughters, go back to school and earn her bachelor’s degree and eventually grow a business that brings in mid-six-figures every year – practically all on her own. She is also selfless, loving, smart, kind, giving, genuine, and overall a great person. I’m not just saying that because she is my mother, but I think there are lots of people who could truly speak to the integrity of her character. My mom’s kindness made up for any of the selfishness and pain we received from my father.

In these few months following the divorce, it has become more and more difficult for my mother to truly see what an amazing person she is. She is filled with self-doubt, regret, and pain from a marriage that left her broken. Lately, she has been in a deepening pit of despair, barely able to keep up with work and constantly crying. We’re all in therapy and we also constantly reassure her that leaving was the right choice and that she is an amazing, kind, and fulfilled person of value, but I know that she sometimes finds it impossible to see this in herself. I think that maybe some extra encouragement, even from strangers, would help her to see the love and treatment she deserves.”

Letters are welcome in English and Spanish

Love Letters to the world, Witches creating magick in our Hearth & home

Faeries in September love letters: Share LOVE💕🌸💕🌸

Hello my friendly Faerie’s:

We are beginning our love letter writing again! I took a break to enjoy some time with myself, family & significant partner!!! I will begin writing again and sharing many nee exciting info & stories! Here we begin with this months requests!!!

VALERY

“Valery is my best friend of nine years. She’s the most supportive and kind person I have ever met. She is always by my side, likes to help others, especially animals, and has a lovely heart.

Some months ago she finally got the courage to leave her job that was underpaid and start a new chapter of life in another big city.  Even though she was very scared and frustrated, she did it for a bright future and I am so proud of her. Her family was in an unstable financial situation and she has been working so hard since her teenage years to help her mother and little sister to have a better life.

She is having tough times in a new place, but I know that she can do it. She does not have many friends but has a pure and open heart. She likes art, classical music, museums, and nature.

Valery deserves support and appreciation,  and I want to make her believe in miracles, good people, and kindness around us.”

Let her believe in love again. Letters are welcome in English, Spanish & Russian.

AMY & JASON

“My sister Amy is an incredible woman. She has always been committed to seeing the light and joy in life despite her hardships and encourages others to do the same. I call her a spiritual giant. One cannot leave an interaction with Amy without feeling uplifted. However, I know this year has been difficult.

About a year ago, her husband (Jason) was diagnosed with ALS. She’s worked ceaselessly to support him and their three children as ALS continues to take its toll on him. Despite now being wheelchair-bound, Jason maintains his good humor and positive outlook on life.

In August, we had planned a weekend trip to visit them (they live a state away), but when the weekend came, she and her family had Covid so we were forced to cancel. I know love letters would mean a great deal to Amy and her family- especially at this time. If people could send love letters to her and Jason, I know they would be a beautiful reminder of the goodness of life and people, and could help uplift them during difficult times.”

Let us gather around our letters and encourage Amy and Jason during this hard time.

LEANA

“Leana is Matthew’s mom. That is who she has been full-time, non-stop for the last fourteen years, with them spending no more than four hours apart (when he went to “school”). Leana adopted Matthew at birth with an initial diagnosis of Myotonic muscular dystrophy and apraxia, although later it was discovered there were more diagnoses to come. Since her mother’s passing in 2017, Leana has also been his sole source of care. They were told when Matthew was born that there was little chance that he would live to be three. With her strong heart and stronger faith, along with her background in nursing, she provided an environment where Matthew would not only survive but thrive for fourteen years. On August 5th along with her beloved’s picture, Leana posted “The most beautiful, amazing boy ran into the arms of Jesus at 3:44 this afternoon.”  He loved music, his bear, his stories, his favorite blankets…and his mom.

Later in a post, she writes “I saw him take his first breath and I held him as he took his last and that’s an honor I will never take lightly. While I would give everything I have to have you with me for 5 minutes longer, I’m so grateful you are no longer in a bed, tied to machines. You are pain free. I’ve tried to think all day, what you might be doing in heaven. How many new friends have you made? How happy grandma was to see you. I wish I could have heard your first sentence and seen you running.”

He was literally her whole world.  Please write to encourage Leana at this impossible time. Let her feel your love, prayers, and support.”

PAUL

Paul’s mom wrote this to our community: “I want to nominate my son Paul who in our little town is quite a celebrity and known as the local Matthew McConaughey. He is super chill and loving.

Paul started his own business selling his art and despite his networking, handing out business cards, and posting on social media…it’s slow going. He is extremely talented and it’s frustrating for him to try to live out his dreams but lacking money and time. He works for a local store where hours can be zany and the pay is minimum wage. He is limited by few small-town opportunities which is why his business succeeding is so important!

He has exuded kindness throughout the years, for example, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went through two years of treatment. I was very sick and he moved back home to care for me and his younger special needs siblings. He did it while working,  keeping house, and caring for our animals. He put his life on hold while doing it! He didn’t blink at stepping up! Additionally, we lost his grandmother to cancer last year and she was a big supporter of his and they shared many late night phone calls.

I’m nominating Paul because his spirit is beginning to break. He is losing confidence and you can see a weariness that shouldn’t be in a 27-year-old young man’s eyes. He feels he is fighting a losing battle to be appreciated and successful. He is much beloved by his customers. People all over stop me and ask if I’m his mom because they adore his stories and personality. Despite this, he often feels alone. Depression is sinking in.

Please send him some encouragement! Paul loves Budda, all things Kevin Smith, and enjoys other people’s artistic creations!”

TANIA

“Tania is the best friend anyone could possibly ask for. She is a loving, generous, thoughtful, empathetic, fun, and loyal wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and doggy mom! Tania has dedicated her adult life to her husband and two sons. Due to Lupus, Tania suffered several miscarriages, and she was not sure if she would ever be able to carry to term. Just as Tania and her husband, David, had decided to explore adoption, Tania became pregnant again and was blessed with her first son, Gabe. Two years later, Tania gave birth to Benny.

She has enjoyed motherhood more than she even imagined she would. Gabe is starting his sophomore year of college and Benny is starting his senior year of high school. This time of change and transition is difficult for Tania, and she is trying to find her way as her sons are spreading their wings, so to speak. Tania also continues to suffer from chronic systemic lupus. This disease has started to cause kidney dysfunction. She also fights severe chronic fatigue. Sadly, Tania has also started to have liver dysfunction, and her GI doctor is concerned that she may have an ultimately fatal liver disease.

She has so much on her plate, and she smiles and laughs every single day. She is kind to others every single day. She puts others first every single day. Finally, Tania took me in when I needed a home. She does not judge me for being in need – rather she is constantly making me feel like I am the one doing her a favor by living with her and her family.  Tania is a truly special human being!”

Love Letters to the world

February Love Letters: đź’•

Hello Lovely People,

Here we begin again writing letters to those who need some extra love from our universe! Join me in writing letters!!!!

CHELSEA

Chelsea has been facing a series of challenging, wonderful circumstances. Her friend shared part of her story with us:

“My best friend Chelsea had her first baby in February of 2020. Her baby, Grace, was born just two weeks before we went into our first lockdown. Ever since then, Chelsea has been at home taking care of Grace, every single day. Although Chelsea receives support from her parents and her husband, she has been taking care of Grace largely alone. She has not been able to do the normal activities a new mom and baby might take part in: no mommy & me classes, no moms & tots swimming lessons, no perusing the grocery store or the mall with a baby in a stroller. Those activities make up a huge part of a new mom’s social life but Chelsea and Grace have not had the chance to do any of them. This has left Chelsea feeling so isolated and lonely.

Since I live a thousand miles away in another province, I cannot visit her either. But I am so proud of this woman for being an amazing mother and for providing Grace with as much fun, love, and stimulus as she can. I’m hoping we could all send Chelsea love and appreciation as this first year of being a new mom comes to a close.”

Let’s send Chelsea heaps of celebration + encouragement!

HEIDI

Heidi’s best friend reached out with the story of her current challenges. She wrote to us:

“Heidi is one of the most caring and loving individuals I have ever known. She has dedicated her life to serving the public as a paramedic. She gives so much of herself to take care of others in need.

Recently, Heidi was diagnosed with cancer. In the face of this, she is trying to be strong and continue to encourage others. I really believe that words of encouragement would be life changing for her and would give her strength to keep fighting. She is an absolute blessing in my life, as well as many others. I couldn’t imagine a life where she isn’t.”

JOSENA

A friend of Josena has shared a bit of her story from 2020 and asked us to rally around her friend. She wrote:

“Josena has been my best friend since we met at sixth form and she giddily commented that we had the same initials in a slightly different order. At the start of 2020, she was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and she’s been on medication since. In August, just after her birthday, her tiny Yorkshire terrier was hit by a car and passed away right in front of her. Josena has been there for her family as a carer all her life, and even more this year where her mum has been working with covid patients and staff as an essential worker. Her mum has recently been told she may have cancer, and her dad had his second seizure a few weeks ago – we’re not sure what’s caused them and all the scans and tests came back clear again. Additionally, Josena lost her job right before Christmas. Despite all she’s faced over the last year, she’s still the same caring and sweet friend she’s always been to me. She still helps me any time I feel down, and I know she supports many, many others too.

Josena loves letters so much! It’s one thing she gets super excited about receiving and showing to other people. I’ve seen so many of the letters she sends to people and how happy she becomes when she tells me she got another letter. After everything she’s been through this year and after all she’s done for me over the years, I would really like to deliver a special smile to her.”

Pick out some fun stationery + unite with us in sending Josena a smile.

LISA

Lisa lives life in an incredibly sacrificial way, and is facing difficult circumstances. Her friend shared with us:

“Lisa is the MOST giving person in the entire universe. She works tirelessly on the front lines in NYC for the ASPCA saving animals daily. Not just a few, I’m talking about hundred and hundreds during animal abuse raids, hoarding cases, dog fighting rings, animals left as a result of owners dying from COVID, the list just goes on and on. She has a Master’s degree in art therapy and is also a reiki master. Lisa is in her early 40’s and has already beaten cancer once. She has once again been diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma and is facing another tumor removal surgery along with radiation treatments and blood clotting vein surgery. She lives alone in Brooklyn in a 4th floor apartment with no elevator. She has no one near her to help her with doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, house cleaning, laundry, literally no one. Her mother was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and Lisa – even though she is battling cancer herself, regularly drives hours to go and assist her. She lost her father at the young age of 8. She works day and night, helping the animals – but doesn’t have a close team of support to help her. She has been my best friend for 30 years; and with me through so many difficult times in my life….she never gives up. She needs a gift of kindness in the most beautiful way possible.”

Join us in sending Lisa encouragement through this trying season.
